Vintage Asian Figural Textile Art – Signed Framed Pair – 17" × 14"

A beautifully coordinated pair of vintage framed textile artworks featuring richly detailed Asian figural garden scenes. Both works are presented on a visible woven textile or silk-like ground and feature vibrant pigments with extensive metallic-gold decorative accents.

One scene depicts two elegantly dressed women seated together in a garden, surrounded by flowering branches, water, blossoms, a bird and butterfly. Its companion depicts two male figures beneath flowering trees, one playing a traditional stringed instrument while the seated figure holds a written sheet or scroll.

The designs combine strong black, red, gold, green and muted pastel tones with fine decorative detailing. Gold-colored accents highlight the foliage, garments, architectural elements and foreground, creating an especially attractive effect when viewed under light.

Both artworks bear a visible artist signature at the lower right, although the exact spelling of the signature has not been conclusively identified. We therefore offer the pair as signed works by an unidentified artist rather than making an unsupported attribution.

The style and presentation are consistent with mid-20th-century decorative Asian textile art, likely dating from approximately the 1950s–1970s. During this period, decorative textile and silk artworks depicting musicians, courtly figures, gardens, flowering trees and traditional dress were popular additions to Western Asian Modern and eclectic interiors.

The exact production process has not been established. Close examination shows a woven textile ground with colored decoration and metallic embellishment. The pieces may incorporate a combination of printed, screened, stenciled or hand-applied elements, so they are not represented as entirely hand-painted works.

Each is displayed under glass in a matching substantial black frame with deep red inner molding, creating a striking coordinated pair.

Condition: Both artworks display very well with strong color and attractive metallic detailing. The frames show minor age-related wear consistent with vintage display. The original paper backing on the reverse shows substantial age, including edge deterioration, tears and small losses, as photographed. This backing wear is on the reverse and does not detract from the framed presentation.

As part of our preservation approach, we leave original vintage backing materials in place whenever practical rather than replacing them solely for cosmetic reasons. Original paper backing may show age-related wear, discoloration, tears or deterioration consistent with the age of the piece. This is considered part of the item's history and does not necessarily reflect the condition of the artwork itself.
