A charming vintage 1991 Duncan Royale “Today’s Nast” Santa Claus figurine from the celebrated History of Santa Claus series, inspired by the classic Santa Claus illustrations of Thomas Nast — the 19th-century artist whose drawings helped define the American image of Santa. This Collectors Club Exclusive was issued as the First Redemption Piece, limited to 15,000 individually numbered pieces; this example carries the exceptionally low number 0011.
The jolly Santa wears a traditional deep red suit with snow-flocked white fur trim, his hair and long beard flocked to match, and a sprig of holly on his cap. He strides across a rocky, snow-dusted base carrying a snow-flocked Christmas tree in one hand and an armful of toys in the other — a rocking horse, a blonde doll in pigtails, a blue toy train, and an ear of corn. A big red toy sack rides on his back like a backpack, finished with gold bell tassels; a book is tucked under his arm and a pocket watch hangs at his belt.
The green felt underside retains its original gold oval plate, which reads: “History of Santa Claus — Today’s Nast — No. 0011 /15,000 — First Redemption Piece — Exclusive to Club Members — Duncan Royale © 1991 Reg. U.S.A.”
