Vintage 1990 Duncan Royale Star Man Santa – History of Santa III – Limited Edition 1925/10000

Vintage 1990 Duncan Royale “Star Man” figurine from the History of Santa III collection, presented in excellent vintage condition.

This elaborate figure portrays the legendary Star Man accompanied by a young child, both dressed in richly detailed Old World garments and carrying ornate ceremonial staffs. Deep burgundy, forest green, golden ochre and turquoise accents create a striking presentation, while the expressive faces, textured clothing and miniature accessories reveal the craftsmanship for which Duncan Royale became known.

The Star Man tradition is associated with Old World European Christmas customs and the Festival of the Star, making this figure far more than traditional holiday décor. It represents one of the many historical interpretations of gift-giving figures and Christmas folklore explored through Duncan Royale’s acclaimed History of Santa collection.

Produced in 1990 for Duncan Royale of Fullerton, California, this Collectors Edition was limited to only 10,000 examples. This particular figure is individually numbered 1925 of 10,000.

The original identification plaques remain intact on the green felt-covered underside. One reads “Collectors Edition – Duncan Royale – Fullerton, California,” with a “Made in Taiwan R.O.C.” sticker; the oval plaque reads “History of Santa III – Star Man – 1925 /10,000 Ltd. Ed. – Reg. USA © 1990 – M. E. Duncan.”

The composition is wonderfully detailed from every angle. Star Man carries an ornate gold-tone staff and a pouch filled with miniature toys, while the accompanying child holds a star-topped ceremonial staff. Fine painted borders, dimensional trim and beautifully modeled facial features give the piece tremendous character.

Condition is excellent vintage. The figures, delicate staffs and decorative elements appear intact, with beautiful color and presentation. Light age-related surface wear may be present, consistent with a collectible dating from 1990.
