Vintage 1990 Duncan Royale Judah Maccabee – History of Santa III – Limited Edition Figurine – 12"

A Hero of Hanukkah, Sculpted by Duncan Royale

Presenting Judah Maccabee from Duncan Royale’s celebrated History of Santa III collection, copyrighted 1990 — an impressive 12-inch sculpture from a limited collector’s edition of 10,000 pieces.

Judah Maccabee was the heroic Jewish leader of the Maccabean revolt in the second century BCE, whose victory and rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem are commemorated during Hanukkah. Duncan Royale’s History of Santa series explored the legendary and historical figures behind seasonal traditions, and Judah Maccabee stands as one of its most distinctive subjects.

Beautifully sculpted and richly hand-painted, he strides across a rocky base in a sage-green tunic with gold shoulder guards, a jeweled pendant at his chest, and a sword at his hip. A flowing rust-brown fur cloak falls from his shoulders, and in his raised hand he holds a nine-candle Hanukkah menorah high, his other arm extended — a small oil lamp resting at his feet. The intricate textures, expressive features, and carefully applied colors demonstrate the craftsmanship that made Duncan Royale a recognized name among collectors of historical and holiday figurines.

Produced in Thailand, this 1990 edition retains its original Duncan Royale identification plaques on the underside, along with the original green felt-covered base — a particularly appealing collectible for enthusiasts of Duncan Royale, Judaica, Hanukkah decorations, and historical sculpture.
