A beautifully detailed vintage 1983 Duncan Royale American Pioneer Santa from the celebrated History of Santa Claus I collection. This distinctive collector’s figurine portrays an early American Santa in a rustic brown, fur-trimmed pioneer outfit with tall lace-up boots and a long, beautifully sculpted white beard, his fur cap topped with holly and a pinecone. In his hand he carries a Christmas tree decorated with miniature American flags, red berries, and silver crescent and star ornaments.
Delightful miniature toys hang at his silver jingle-bell belt — a doll in a red dress, a red rocking horse on wheels, and a toy rifle at the front, with a tiny drum and brass horn tucked at the back — reflecting the craftsmanship and character Duncan Royale is known for. He stands on a white snow-look base.
The underside carries two gold plates: “Collectors Edition — Duncan Royale — Fullerton, California” and “History of Santa — Pioneer — No. 07751 /10,000 Ltd. Ed. — Reg. USA ©1983 — P. Apsit — R. Rodrigues.” The original red Duncan Royale collector’s booklet, printed in 1983 by M. E. Duncan Co., Inc. of Fullerton, California, is included and hangs from the tree on its gold cord.
