Flambro Pleasantville 1893 Sweet Shoppe & Bakery #1601 – Lighted Christmas Village Building

Every town has a heart, and in Pleasantville it was the Sweet Shoppe. Flambro’s own story for this building tells how Charlie Hubbard’s bakery and sweet shop was the place to learn what was going on in town — and how, as Christmas neared, the windows filled with gingerbread boys and girls, divinity fudge, and spice cookies in the shapes of stars, moons, angels, and trees. This lighted porcelain building packs three storefronts into one charming block: the Valley Inn of 1827 above, the Bakery and Sweet Shoppe at street level, and a barber shop — striped pole and all — in the side wing.

From Flambro Imports’ Pleasantville 1893 collection, designed by Joan Berg Victor and issued in 1990, the hand-painted building wears snow-dusted red shingle roofs, Christmas wreaths with red bows in the windows, and a green-and-cream striped awning. The underside carries the full maker’s mark — Pleasantville 1893, designed exclusively for Flambro, ©1990, by Joan Berg Victor — with its Made in China sticker. It comes with its original retail box, the original light cord, the Pleasantville 1893 pamphlet, and the hangtag.
