Step into the charm of old-world England with this Department 56 “Crown & Cricket Inn,” a 1992 First Edition from the Dickens' Village Series in the Heritage Village Collection. Originally introduced in December 1991 and retired in December 1992, this retired porcelain village building is a classic piece of Victorian Christmas magic.
The inn's stately brick façade rises to a snow-dusted mansard roof with twin dormers and a triple chimney. Four tall Victorian windows sit above a white bay window and a wrought-iron balcony dressed with Christmas garlands and red bows, and the front carries its “The Crown & Cricket” sign over a columned porch entrance. Around the side, the bay windows carry the building's “Golden Lion Arms” signage — a distinctive detail of this piece.
This example is in excellent vintage condition, with beautifully preserved original colors and architectural detailing. All of the lighting has been replaced with new components, and it comes complete with its original Department 56 collector's box (showing age-related storage wear), the original Charles Dickens Heritage collector's booklet, and the removable gold hanging sign shown in the photographs.
