A wonderful addition to any Department 56 Dickens’ Village collection, this vintage 1993 Boarding & Lodging School was issued as a special commemorative edition celebrating the 150th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ beloved A Christmas Carol.
Part of the Heritage Village Collection, this distinctive hand-painted porcelain building features classic Victorian brick architecture, snow-covered rooflines, festive holiday detailing, and an intricate rooster weathervane. This is the collectible 1993 commemorative version, item #5809-2, displaying the number 18 on the building’s facade — rather than the later regular-production version displaying number 43.
The building is beautifully preserved in excellent vintage condition and includes its original matching Department 56 box, the original green commemorative hangtag, and a new replacement light cord and bulb. The original box shows age-related storage and handling wear, including writing and a sticker.
