Department 56 Dickens' Village Theatre Royal #5584-0 – 1989

Curtain up on the grandest address in the village — the Theatre Royal, a stately Victorian playhouse in miniature. Its steep orange-brown mansard roof rises past three dormers and twin red brick chimneys to a hand-painted marquee band flanked by little crown marks, announcing the house to the whole street. Three tall arched windows glow above a sloped canopy that shelters the red entrance doors, and the playbill board by the door bills the evening's attraction: “Sweet Nell of Old Drury.” Around the side, a modest green stage door waits for the players.

Theatre Royal (#5584-0) was introduced in 1989 and retired in 1992 as part of the Heritage Village Collection's Dickens' Village Series. This example comes complete with its original retail box and fitted Styrofoam packaging, and a NEW LED lighting cord and bulb have been installed and tested — the arched windows and dormers glow warmly, ready for opening night.
