Dept 56 Dickens' Village Fagin's Hide-A-Way #5552-2 – Oliver Twist

Every Dickens' Village street needs its shadows, and this is the most famous of them all. Fagin's Hide-A-Way is the tumbledown den from Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist — the crumbling house where Fagin trains his young pickpockets, and where the Artful Dodger brings Oliver when he first arrives in London. Department 56 modeled it for the Dickens' Village Series in the Heritage Village Collection, and it remains one of the most characterful buildings in the whole village.

The handpainted porcelain piece joins two buildings into one deep, storybook whole. On the left stands a half-timbered cooperage under a steep green-shingled roof, its hand-painted sign reading “BARRELS” above arched wooden doors, with barrels stacked in the snowy courtyard between the buildings. On the right, the taller stone hideaway rises under burgundy tile roofs dusted with sculpted snow, carrying the script “Fagin” sign, a small balcony, a green plank door, and boarded windows that are part of the original sculpt — Fagin's den was meant to look this rough around the edges. Introduced in December 1991 and retired in December 1995, this example comes complete with its original retail box and fitted Styrofoam packaging, plus a NEW replacement LED lighting cord — installed and tested, and the lighting works properly.
