The bearded official stands in full ceremonial dress: an ornate gold headdress crowned with red and green orbs and a red finial, a flowing black beard, and a green ruyi scepter — the emblem of authority and wishes fulfilled — held in his left hand.

His coral-red outer robe is patterned with gold dragons and clouds, opening over pale celadon panels painted with blue and red peonies, cloud scrolls and a mountain-and-wave hem, with a jeweled chest panel at the center.
